Coping with Covid
Despite the marked changes in our lives, regular routines to create a new normal can be stabilizing and helpful. Establishing a new routine, taking regular breaks during the day for exercise, enjoyable activities, and self-care is vitally important. Adding tapping breaks can be helpful, and a fun way to go through some of the basic energy tapping algorithms is by following the tapping and choreography on the ‘Aloha Tapping Song’ video, composed by Chanel Sebala-Bumanglag.

The algorithms may be repeated as often as needed to help:
- Reduce overwhelm and get centered (side of hand)
- Reduce anger, frustration and rage (tiny finger, outer eye, liver, under collarbone)
- Reduce panic and anxiety (eyebrow, under eye, under arm, under collarbone)
- Reduce fatigue and depression (gamut spot, under collarbone)
- Shift perspectives and think more constructively about what we can do
There’s a lot we can do to help get through the Covid pandemic. We can support each other and our struggling, overwhelmed first responders on the front lines fighting Coronavirus— the doctors, physician assistants, nurses, medical staff, EMT, and others who are putting their lives at risk daily, and making huge sacrifices from their personal and family lives. From making masks, shields, gowns, and protective gear, to supporting restaurants struggling to stay afloat by purchasing take out meals for front line responders, we can help and show our gratitude and appreciation.
Some are putting together care baskets for those in greater need. Others are sharing inspiring songs, stories, cartoons and art to provide support or humor to help cope with the grim and harsh realities. Many are reaching out to make amends, communicate with friends and family who have not been in contact for years, even decades. While being physically more distant, many are more socially connected through social media and video meetings.
Progress has been made by many in learning and utilizing technology that that was formerly too daunting or intimidating, and may not have been attempted unless the critical needs arose for alternative solutions. Many more are learning to be creative and think outside the box, finding innovative solutions. During these times we can find our best selves and elevate each other.
